Submission

Thursday Treasures

Through the years, I have learned what is truly important in life.  I have been blessed to have many women in my life show me by example what true submission looks like.  They have shown me what it means to be a servant to others...putting others first above myself.  I have been taught by single mothers, grandmothers, aunts, cousins, and friends.

I have also been blessed to know many men who have laid down their lives for their families.  Men who chose to lead their family rather than acquire the identity of ATM.  Men who chose not to idolize sports or hobbies over their families well being.  Men who understood that growing a family requires cultivation and work similar to that of tending a garden.  Each of these men are a treasure to me.

In the Bible we have the example of Yeshua...He laid down His life for our well being.  It was a choice that He made...no one demanded that He shed His blood for our sin.  He passed on what it meant to be selfless to His followers.  Later, these were the people that willingly laid down their lives singing praises to the Most High in the face of lions.

Selfless people who understand true submission also understand that there is a higher purpose in life than just "getting your own way."  Selfless people who choose to put others needs first no longer act or think as a child.  Paul was very eloquent when he explained this:

But when the complete and perfect (total) comes, the incomplete and imperfect will vanish away
 (become antiquated, void, and superseded).
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; now that I have become a man, I am done with childish ways and have put them aside.
For now we are looking in a mirror that gives only a dim (blurred) reflection [of reality as in a riddle or enigma], but then [when perfection comes] we shall see in reality and face to face! Now I know in part (imperfectly), but then I shall know and understand fully and clearly, even in the same manner as I have been fully and clearly known and understood [by God].
1 Corinthians 13:10-12

I have been challenged more and more to allow my husband to lead, to swallow my pride and  let him be the Man of God that he was called and created to be.  My position is two-fold though, my sons watch me.  They see in me how a Biblical woman lives and I am the living example, a visual if you will, for what they are to look for in a wife later on.  This can seem daunting at times and I have apologized to my sons (and my husband) on several occasions where I missed the mark.  But, in those humbling times, I do not give up!  Instead, I let God be God and keep moving along, seeking to follow the path that He has laid out for me to follow, doing my best and repenting where I fail.

How do you feel about this subject?  Do you find submission or serving your family offensive, and if so, why?  Do you believe in putting others first?  I would love to know your thoughts!  Don't worry, this is not a debate, I am just curious to know where other people are on this matter.

I want to share with you today a dear lady, Darlene Schadt from the Time-Warp WifeShe is such a blessing in every way, please watch this video and be sure to stop by her page today!

Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear. Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
1 Peter 3:1-4
