Be The People, by Carol M. Swain, PhD

Be The People is a magnificent portrayal of what is currently happening in America and how we have gotten there.   Carol Swain writes from a Christian perspective and yet she has a balanced argument that allows for an unbiased view.  The chapters are full of the hard hitting issues while also offering suggestions to actively Be The People!

I was not sure what to expect when I opened this book.  There are writers with whom I can immediately relate and then there are those whom I sludge through the pages wondering when the book will end.  Be The People was a fascinating look at America through the eyes of a highly educated black woman!  She is able to offer perspective that I had never been exposed to before.  While I agree with many of the issues and her responses to them in this book, as individuals, I can respect that we also have differences of opinion.

Some of the hard hitting topics that she discusses with a very intellectual mindset are:

  • Family Issues
  • Homosexuality
  • America’s Religious Roots
  • Abortion
  • Immigration
  • Race and Racism

Because of the approach that this brilliant woman has taken in this book, she very clearly explains that she could lose her position and prestige due to the stance she has chosen to take.  She exposes the lies for what they are while still leaving room for the reader to do their own research and make their own judgments.  This is the book of the year for anyone that has a firm grasp on politics, for the person that is tired of letting everyone else make the political decisions and for the person who is ready to stand up and Be The People!
